I'm baaaaaaaaaaack!
Feb. 21st, 2011 11:28 amHellooooo, internets! Okay, I was only gone two days, but they were a long two days from my end. I discovered that I can check to see if I have new email on my phone, but can't easily read said email, let alone reply to it. Which was fine, really. We played Scrabble, saw The King's Speech ( which... ), caught up with friends, went to the beach, harvested lemons from my parents' tree and learned about Gutenberg from James Burke and pangolins from David Attenborough.
I didn't write anything or catch up on my fic reading, but I did think about vids and eat a lot.
Oh, and I went to Saturday morning zumba, which I suspect is much more like real zumba than my usual zumba class, which is basically very bouncy Latin-American-infused hiphop lessons. Interesting to see the difference, and real zumba was fine -- easier steps, but just as fast so I still couldn't quite keep up.
My computer has been returned unto me intact and on its best behaviour, which is just as well because its faults all went poof! as soon as I gave it to the computer guy. Faker! He did clean up my desktop, though, and tell me that stuff that lives there (like, say, several episodes of I-Man) all get loaded into memory when Windows starts up. Who knew? So they're all in a nice little folder now and things feel clean and organised and smooooth.
And also bouncily anticipatory, on account of there being new White Collar this week! \o/
I'm more or less caught up, and in the process, discovered that kinkmemes are the new flashfic (see comments), which wow, suddenly it all makes sense! I mean, they'll never be flashfic for me and I still can't "do" them, but now I sort of understand where they fit in the greater scheme of things. That's been baffling me for months if not years, in a low-key kind of way.
Completely non sequiturially, I'm also wondering if anyone's familiar with Michelle Holman's novels and whether I'd like them.
And finally, I need to express my delight at reading The Kids Really Are All Right in yesterday's Sunday Star Times. It has the distinction of being the first opinion piece I've read in a long time that's made me think print media isn't wholly irrelevant to both my interests and the world in general. (Contains some spoilers for The Kids Are All Right, but is mostly about living in a world where (gasp!) some people are gay and some other people are stoopid.)
